Do I need to put down a deposit for my tattoo?
Yes, a non-refundable deposit of $600 is required to secure your full-day session. This will cover the custom digital and graphic designing Jake will be doing in the weeks leading up to your session. The deposit goes towards the final cost of the tattoo. Deposits can be forfeited for cancellations within 5 days or no-shows. To reschedule a session, please allow at least five days notice so Jake can re-fill the empty day slot. If you decide to cancel within a 5 day period of your scheduled tattoo appointment, the deposit will have be forfeited. Thank you for understanding and if you have any further questions about deposits please email Collectors@jakelewys.com
What is a full-day session like?
A full-day session typically starts early in the morning and lasts approximately eight hours, though some may extend to nine plus hours depending on the design’s complexity. Jake custom designs every tattoo in advance, ensuring clients have a complete visual of the artwork prior to their appointment.
Upon arrival, Jake applies the stencil and collaborates closely with the client to finalize the design and its precise placement on the body. Short breaks are provided throughout the session as needed to manage comfort levels, along with a dedicated 30-45 minute lunch break. This extended pause allows both the artist and client to stretch, refresh, and maintain focus for the remainder of the session.
Each full-day booking is reserved exclusively for one client, eliminating any scheduling pressure. If additional time is required to perfect the tattoo, the session can extend without compromise—prioritizing quality and precision above all. There will be no rush during our full day session; the day is yours only.
How do I prepare for my full-day session?
The day before your appointment, prioritize rest and adequate hydration. On the morning of your session, have a nutritious breakfast and continue to stay well hydrated. Jake recommends bringing one or two snacks and a beverage for your comfort; complimentary snacks and water will also be provided for you. Throughout a full day session, brief breaks will be offered as needed to accommodate your comfort and pain tolerance.
Notice: Please refrain from shaving the tattoo area yourself—Jake will handle this professionally to minimize the risk of irritation.
What if my project will take longer than one full-day session?
During your consultation with Jake, he will explore options for reducing the overall cost of multi-day projects. Certain projects, such as back pieces or sleeves, may require 3-6 sessions to complete in full. Rather than booking individual full-day sessions, Jake can collaborate with you to develop a tailored multi-day project plan, which can help lower your total cost. By consolidating sessions into a multi-day package, you will typically receive a 15-20% discount compared to booking individual full-day sessions for a large-scale project.
AFTERCARE
Proper care of a new tattoo will pay off in the long run. Using the correct aftercare procedures can make a huge difference. Below you will find some advice and tips for healing your fresh ink.
Remove the bandage/wrap after 1-2+ hours
Wash with a non-scented anti bacterial hand soap (Dial rain water recommended)
Shower and wash the tattoo with a washed hand to cleanse the fresh wound. Don't scrape or rub roughly. Just enough to cleanse. Avoid baths or prolonged swimming for the first 3 weeks minimum. Don't use a bath towel to dry the tattoo, pat dry with a clean paper towel. When you get out of the shower, allow the tattoo to air dry after you pat it dry. Give it about 15-20 minutes of air drying before applying the aftercare balm.
Apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare balm (Tattoo Goo, Hustle Butter, Mad Rabbit, etc.). Don't apply too much and create a moist area, just rub it in until it has a thin layer. Too much gunked up can make healing take even longer. It's better to be on the light side than the heavy side. It needs to breath to heal! Let your skin breath and it will heal like a normal wound. The more air it gets, the more natural it will be for your fresh ink.
After a few days to a week, switch to a non-scented white lotion (Lubriderm recommended or any tattoo brand lotion)
Use the lotion to heal the tattoo for the next month. Apply the lotion in the same fashion as the balm. Reapply lotion when it dries out and starts to peel, most people apply lotion to a fresh tattoo about 3-4 times max per day.
Don't peel or pick any scabbing that may occur. This is completely normal and is apart of the skin's healing process. Picking at the skin's attempt to heal can cause minor scarring. Just wash your tattoo and let it heal on it's own.
Always wear sunscreen with your new tattoo, even when it heals. It is especially important to not expose the fresh tattoo to the direct sun for prolonged periods of time. If you must do this, wear a high sun block sunscreen. SPF 45 or higher is recommended for summer time beach trips.
